‘La radice radica.’ /ra·di·cà·re/ to take root

‘A rareca rarechea, a root begets roots: so nature says, so an ancient Neapolitan proverb recalls, highlighting the inevitable similarity we all share with our close and distant relatives, guiding us toward the notion of belonging, family and connection. We all have roots that take root within us to forge connections with the people and environments to which we belong.

It's the tree root that is featured in this project, which is the result of a year-long collaboration between a course at the University of Naples Federico II (Design for the Community), Fondazione Morra Greco and artist Antonella Raio. ‘A rareca in fact reflects on the connection between these natural elements and the people who live around them, elaborating on the meaning of different caring relationships that bind a community to its trees.

'A Rareca was created by Fondazione Morra Greco starting from an idea of Antonella Raio, Artist with the design project by students of the Corso di Laurea in Design per la Comunità, DiArc Department of the University of Naples Federico II, coordinated by prof. Carla Langella: Davide Andrea Calabrese, Allegra Casillo, Flavia Padulano, Francesca Maria Pagliaro, Chiara Prisco.
